Percussion Ensemble

陳文紈 CHAN Man-uen, Abby


Chan Man-uen Abby is currently a final-year music student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in percussion. She began her music training on the piano at the age of four, and is currently studying percussion with Sophia Woo Shuk-fai and timpani with James Boznos.


Chan has participated in various music festivals such as the International Summer Academy of Mozarteum Salzburg and the International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Academy, where she studied with Katarzyna Mycka, Jean Geoffroy, Conrado Moya and Bogdan Bacanu., and received coaching from members of the Wave Quartet.


As an active percussionist, Chan has performed with the SAR Orchestra, Die Konzertisten and the Hong Kong Professional Winds etc., and is currently the timpanist at the Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong and the Chung Chi Orchestra.


鄭海晴 CHENG Hoi-ching,Cherry


CHENG Hoi-ching Cherry is currently a second-year music student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in percussion under the tutelage of Mr. Louis Siu.


Cherry has been an active percussionist at various orchestras including the Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, the Gustav Mahler Orchestra, the Hong Kong Festival Wind Orchestra, the Chung Chi Orchestra and the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra. She has attended masterclasses by renowned percussionists, including Marimba One artist Eriko Daimo, Resta Jay artist Jean Geoffroy, Adam artist Ludwig Albert, and the Asian Youth Orchestra faculty member, Christopher Williams. In summer 2017, Cherry participated in the 12th Keiko Abe International Marimba Academy in Tokyo (Japan) and studied with Keiko Abe, one of the most well-known solo marimbists of all time, and members of the Tchiki Duo. She performed in 2017’s French Music Project at CUHK with Toolbox Percussion artists. Cherry is currently a member of the Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia, the Chung Chi Orchestra and the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra.


Apart from music, Cherry is also interested in visual arts. Recently, she received a gold award in a painting competition jointly held by What Cheer Studio and the Hong Kong Wind Philharmonia based on Patterson’s arrangement of Mussorgsky’s ’Pictures at an Exhibition’ for wind orchestra.


林天俊 LAM Tin-chun, Jacky


LAM Tin-chun Jacky is a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Music graduate at the Hong Kong Baptist University, where his major teachers included Choy Lap-tak and Sophia Woo.


Jacky has participated in different ensembles.  He had been appointed as a percussionist by the Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Baptist University Wind Symphony, the Hong Kong Band Directors Wind Orchestra, and the Hong Kong Baptist University Percussion Ensemble etc. He was also a freelancer with the Macao Orchestra.


Jacky has intensely communicated with student musicians from local schools, Singapore, and Japan as part various music exchange programmes such as the 30th anniversary of the Hong Kong – Kagoshima Conference organized by the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong.

陳彤 CHAN Tung, Brian

Chan Tung is a recent graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music in Machester, UK. He has studied with world-renowned percussionists in his college years, for example Paul Patrick, who is the percussion principal of BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Ian Wright, who is the former timpani principal of Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.  He has also studied piano with Jakob Fischert and Ben Powell along with his percussion study.  He has been awarded the Friends Scholarship in Leeds College of Music and later on graduated with First Class (Honours) in Royal Northern College of Music.  He performed with the Guangzhou Symphony, City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Chamber Wind Philharmonia.
