Violin
Violinist Gary Ngan has performed concerts and recitals in over 50 cities across Asia, North Africa, Europe, the North and South Americas as a widely-demanded chamber musician, early music collaborator, orchestral leader and soloist. Among many of Ngan’s major teachers include such world-renowned pedagogues as Charles Castleman, Ani Kavafian, Mikhail Kopelman, Stefan Milenkovic, Anne Röhrig, the late Lin Yao-ji and Zvi Zeitlin. A graduate of Yale University and Eastman School of Music, Ngan also studied Baroque Violin and Chamber Music at Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. He is the First Prize winner at the Eastman Concerto Competition, Montserrat Competition and Vinaròs International Chamber Music Competition in Spain. He also holds the Fellowship Diploma in Violin Performance from Trinity College, London and was awarded the Doctoral full-tuition scholarship from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ngan has served as Concertmaster of Junges Stuttgarter Bach Ensemble under Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart found by Helmuth Rilling, touring with them to Chile, Germany, Italy and Tunisia during 2012-2014. As the Strings Director of the historical Ying Wa College, Ngan has led students to give concerts on tour to Finland and the North America. Ngan is the Associate Concertmaster of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong since 2010. He is currently on faculty at the Hong Kong Baptist University, the Education University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong while giving over 60 performances annually.
