Samantha Li is currently a year 2 music student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring piano under the tutelage of Dr. Vivian Cheng Wai since 2015. Apart from that, she is also minoring trumpet under the guidance of Mr. Christopher Moyse, the Co-Principal trumpetist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.


Samantha started learning piano since the age of four, and has obtained the Trinity College London ATCL Performance Diploma in piano. As a pianist, Samantha participated in both many local and international competitions. Since childhood, she joined the Hong Kong School Music Festivals very frequently. Moreover, she won the First Prize in the 9th Asia Youth Piano Festival with Chinese Composition Award International Open Competition (2019), and the Gold Award in the NMCC International Music Competition Hong Kong Regional (2019). She also had masterclasses with Florian Koltun and Maxim Mogilevsky.

As a trumpetist, Samantha joined the Symphony Orchestra of the Music for Our Young Foundation, as the principal trumpet player. She took part in many concerts, performing a wide variety of music, and at the same time training herself to be the soloist and student conductor of the orchestra. She was a member of the choir, symphonic band, and symphony orchestra of Belilios Public School. And she is now currently a trumpetist in the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra.


Chu Ching Laam, bassoon

Jackie Chu is currently a Year 2 music student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in bassoon under the tutelage of Mr Michael Campbell, the former Bass Clarinetist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Principal Bassoonist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Apart from that, she was majoring in piano under Dr Mary Wu Mei-loc in her year of study.

Jackie started learning piano since the age of ten, and has obtained the Associated Broad of the Royal Schools of Music Grade 8 in piano. As a pianist, Jackie participated in many different competitions. She won the Second-runner up in the Purcell International Competition for Young Pianists (2019), the Second-class Honor in the International Fringe Music Festival and Competition (2019), the Second-runner up in the 24th St. Cecilia International Music Competition (2019), the Silver Prize in the 6th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival (2018), the Bronze Prize in the Asian Music Competition for Young Artist Busan (2018). In addition, she frequently joined the Hong Kong School Music Festivals. She also played as the pianist in different ensembles with the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra.

As a bassoonist, Jackie started playing bassoon since her first year in the CUHK. Apart from training herself to be a soloist, she is playing in the Chung Chi Wind Orchestra too, as the Principal Bassoonist. She takes part in many concerts and has performed a wide variety of music.

Kwok Tsz Yan, piano

Kwok Tsz Yan Kathleen is currently a year two music student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in piano under the tutelage of Ms. Nancy Loo. She also studied piano and music theory with Ms. Madeline Kam.

As a versatile artist, Kwok studied Zhongruan with Mr. Siu-Pun Yau (1952-2016) and Ms. Stella Wong. She achieved a Grade 10 Diploma in Zhongruan at the China Nationalities Orchestra Society in 2017. She currently performs as Zhongruan player in the CUHK Music Department Student Chinese Orchestra and the Hong Kong YWCA Chinese Orchestra.


Kwok participated and was awarded in various competitions, including the piano solo, duet and Zhongruan solo section of the Hong Kong School Music Festival and the Hong Kong Children & Youth Piano Contest.
